South Fork Forest Camp (SFFC) While ODF currently utilizes adults in custody crews for fire protection out of several institutions statewide, the history of using adults in custody labor started with South Fork Forest Camp in 1951.
South Fork Camp is the only DOC institution to be sited on Board of Forestry Lands and the only prison facility that is owned and jointly operated by two agencies.
It is the largest and oldest work camp in the Pacific Northwest.
Work crews perform forest management in eleven counties in northwest Oregon, assist with disaster relief efforts, and engage in fire suppression statewide.
In a given year, South Fork Camp can produce up to 28,000-man days of skilled adults in custody labor saving the state millions in labor costs.

Promote public safety by diligently maintaining crew security standards and holding adults in custody accountable.
Reduce recidivism by modeling pro-social behavior and teaching work skills that help adults in custody be productive citizens upon release.
Additional information regarding South Fork Forest Camp: South Fork Video What we are looking for: As the South Fork Camp Manager, you will perform all managerial and supervisory duties for ODF’s operation at Camp and act as a statewide resource and consultant for Agency use of forest Adult in Custody (AIC) crews.
These duties include: Manage all department functions at Camp including safety and security, planning, budgeting, organizing, staffing, directing, monitoring, and program evaluation.
Develop and maintain working relationships with the Department of Corrections (DOC), including recommendation, review, and implementation of policy regarding DOC policy and the use of AICs in forest management and fire suppression.
Ensure SFFC performance is evaluated for compliance with applicable statues, department policies, strategic plans, ACA standards, and other regulations regarding the management and delivery of correctional work programs.
Ensure deficiencies are corrected.
Provide leadership in the development of a work environment which promotes employee ownership in the SFFC mission, work program and facilities.
Ensure resources are available and provide mentoring to subordinates in the recruitment of a diverse workforce, staff development, performance excellence, job enhancement, career opportunities, and retention.
Directly supervise 5 permanent positions.
Indirectly supervise 13 permanent positions, 1 seasonal position, and up to the contracted amount of 150 minimum custody Adults in Custody.
Minimum Qualifications Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience OR Three years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Note: Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business.
If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout.
If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on the top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Capacity to effectively work with and build relationships with Department of Corrections and District field staff.
Experience coordinating and planning projects.
Ability to respond and adapt to changing workloads and prioritize work accordingly.
Ability to represent the Oregon Department of Forestry as a technical expert regarding forest AIC crew utilization statewide.
