*Summary:*
Cardiac sonographer is responsible for performing echocardiograms and related procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality imaging services and accurate diagnostic information.
*Responsibilities:*
Perform echocardiograms using ultrasound equipment to obtain images of the heart chambers, valves, and blood vessels.
Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the examination.
Position patients correctly to obtain optimal images, adjusting equipment settings as needed for clarity and accuracy.
Analyze images in real-time during the procedure, identifying abnormalities or areas of concern for further evaluation.
Maintain accurate patient records, including procedure documentation, imaging findings, and other relevant information.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret results and develop treatment plans for patients.
Assist in invasive procedures, such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) or stress echocardiograms, as needed.
Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
Stay current with advancements in cardiac imaging technology and techniques through continuing education and professional development.
*Qualification:*
Associate's or bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography or a related field.
Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through a recognized credentialing organization (e.
g.
, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography).
State licensure or certification, if required.
Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
